Chris Hellums
Chris Hellums took over as the Head Boys Soccer Coach for the 2015 season after serving one year as an assistant. During his tenure, the Vikings qualified for the Playoffs in four consecutive seasons from 2017 to 2020 and advanced to the Area Round in 2019. Viking players have been recognized as the district's Newcomer of the Year, Offensive MVP, and Goalkeeper of the Season during his tenure. Hellums was named the District Coach of the Year in 2017 and 2019, and has accumulated an overall record of 62 wins, 58 losses, and 26 draws in 6 seasons.
Coach Hellums holds a National C License from the US Soccer Federation as well as the Level 2 Goalkeeping Diploma and Advanced National Diploma from the United Soccer Coaches. He has experience coaching youth teams for Liverpool International Academy and FC Westlake in the Austin area.
Coach Hellums has an M.A. in Social Studies Education from the University of Texas and a B.A. in Economics from Rice University. He teaches AP Macroeconomics and Economics courses.
Coach Hellums enjoys spending his time away from school and soccer with his wife, Sadia and two children Yara and Rami. He supports Austin FC as a season ticket holder and never misses a Liverpool Football Club match on TV.
