The Lady Viking basketball team improved to 1-2 on the season in a commanding win over Ann Richards this Friday. Led by a double-double from junior forward Deshanae Swist, who had 17 point and 10 steals, the Viks looked in charge from start to finish. Senior and team veteran Evelyn Castro helped to establish an identity of devastating defense and determination for the Lady Viks in the preseason win. Castro had 7 steals and 3 points of her own and has shown great leadership early in the season. The Gillespie sisters, Tajahnae and Tajahnique, also posted big numbers with 14 and 7 points respectively in their junior season home debut. The scoring effort was rounded out with 2 points for Makiaya Carothers and 2 points for Jasmine Washington. The Lady Viks play again at home this Monday (11/25) against Weiss High School. Tip-off times are as follows: Freshmen @ 2:30, Junior Varsity @ 3:30, and Varsity @ 5:00. Come out and show your support!
