The Lady Viking basketball team won a close came last Friday against Northeast High School to start district play 1-0. The Viks were let by 22 points from Tajahnae Gillespie. Deshanae Swist also had a breakout game posting a double-double with 11 rebounds and 12 points. The scoring effort was rounded out by Kharmanii Bartholomew with 7 points, Tajahnique Gillespie with 4 points, and Crystal Huerta with 4 points. While the Varsity game was a close victory, the Junior Varsity commanded their game for all 32 minutes with a final score of 45-14. The Junior Varsity saw great leadership from their sophomore captain Darlin Diaz, who has been the engine for the team all year long. The Lady Viks match up next this Friday 12/20 @ Travis High School. The JV plays at 2:00pm and the Varsity at 3:30. Come out and show your support!
