This past weekend the Vikings competed in the SA Roosevelt Rough Rider Tournament. The wrestlers came out ready to work and succeeded with 50% of the team bringing home a medal. The JV Boys started us off on Friday with some great matches. Each wrestler saw improvement and determination to meet their goals. Senior Alfonso Williams came out with 3 bigs wins defeating wrestlers from SA Madison, Dripping Springs, & La Vernia taking 1st place. Junior Sadaqat Iman Ud Din defeated CC Veterans Memorial & Comal Pieper and lost to SA Madison in the finals to take 2nd place. Senior Faisal lost his 1st place to Dripping Springs but came back strong taking 3rd place beating Cibolo Steele & Austin High. Gabe Garcia, Rafael Castelan, & David Valdez all improve in the wrestling technique and battled tough but came up short in the matches. The Lady Vikings came ready to compete with 2 wrestlers in the tournament. Senior Captain Ezabella Solano continued her undefeated streak (7-0) with another first place finish defeating SA Roosevelt and regional competitor A.Mendoza of CC Veterans Memorial. Sophomore Alexis wrestled tough but was unable to gain the wins. The coaching staff was very proud of the way the Vikings competed and are excited about the future. Each wrestler continues to improve with each match and represented their school with dignity and class.
