This past weekend, the Navarro Viking Wrestling team co-hosted the Craig T. Grace CenTex Tournament with 40 teams and 472 athletes. For the boys, Daniel Gallegos (144) and David Perez (132) gained valuable experience, with Gallegos working hard in his second Varsity tournament despite facing challenges. Perez, battling illness, competed well but struggled to gain an advantage. Neveon Shaw, making his season debut, secured 6th place with 4 wins and 3 losses, including a fall win against opponents from Leander, LaVernia, and Anderson. Captain Brandon Morris showcased improvement, earning 2 wins by pin and 2 by points, finishing 2nd after a tough finals match. For the girls, Kathy Guzman and Anahi Mendoza showed growth despite losses, and rookie Layla Trevino earned her first win of the season by pinning her opponent from Gatesville. The team had a strong performance overall and is focused on continuing their progress as they prepare for the district tournament in February.
